He is a blasphemer who curses the Lord and his people (vv. 10, 16, 26, 36, 45). The same Hebrew word used of Goliath taking his stand in verse 16 is used in Psalm 2 of the kings of the earth who take their stand against the Lord and his Anointed One (Ps. 2:2), making Goliath an antichrist figure.
